Last minute card

My husband came to me at the last minute needing a card for the son of a friend.  And as most of wives do, I created this little number for the little cutie!  He is athletic and loves NAVY!  That tells you that he is a great kid right there!  Having done this one, I have now gotten back into the mindset of making some more things---just for fun!

I just finished a set of wedding invitations for my cousin who is getting married in June!  It was my first set and she called on Monday to say that she absolutely loved them.  I can breathe now! You know how some brides can be and she was just lovely.  Now that she has them, I can post pics of the completed project.  She loved the Medallion stamp set from Stampin' Up and wanted it in her wedding colors of eggplant and aqua.  The first one (eggplant) was stamped and embossed.  The second one (aqua) was stamped on all of the information inserts to look like on continued image.  I think they turned out really beautiful, for my first time!

The outside of the invitation was made using the Dots folder from Sizzlix.  Aqua satin ribbon wraps around with the monogram to make this any easy open design!

OH WELL, MAYBE NEXT TIME....

I know that it has been quite a long time since I have been up on the site but it has been a little busy!  The showing did not do well and my husband and I are thinking that it was not the right venue for my crafts.  After picking my spirit up off the floor and massaging my bruised ego, I remembered why I started papercrafting in the first place.  I LOVE THE FEEL OF THE TOOLS IN MY HAND AND SEEING WHAT CREATIVE THINGS MY MIND CAN COME UP WITH!!  So it is back to the drawing board.

The latest thing that I made was a baby shower gift for my husband to give to a co-worker.  The card set is in one of my favorite colors, purple.  Much of the things that she had on her registry was purple and so that gave me the base for my items.  I plan to make a matching frame for her little baby once she delivers!

My Husband's Challenge

Upon seeing me looking at websites about papercrafting and always seemng to have a pair of scissors in my hand, my husband issued me a challenge.  He asked me to participate in the Flea Market back in our hometown.  It is pretty huge and has tons of vendors of different types.

After I stopped my knees from knocking, I accepted it!  If he believes in me, why shouldn't I believe in myself?  So I have started to make some cards and other items for the event.  You will see many pictures of the things I am trying as the weeks go along. I'm praying......

These are the tiles that I have tried.  I kept seeing them all over the place and there are so many beautiful examples!  So these are mine and they are a gift for my MIL as a housewarming gift!  I hope she likes them!

This is a thank you note that I made for the children to give to those who gave them gifts for Christmas.  I like them so much that I plan to sell them at the event next month!

Trying to do a double challenge for the first time

So I got it into my head that I would try to do two challenges at once.  I know that many have done a card that was appropriate for multiple challenges but it seemed so hard to me.  So today I stepped outside of what was comfortable and did it!  This card is for MOJO 172 and for the Flourishes Challenge FLLCJAN11.  Now that I think about it, it also can be part of the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC99) which calls for the use of flowers!  There is a Versamark print of flowers on the red cardstock and small roses in the hearts as well.  These challenges really do help you to focus.  You visit them, if you have not already.  Talk about inspiration!

Preparing for Valentine's Day!

It seems like I was just getting ready for Christmas and my usual mad dash to get my Christmas cards out on time!  The time is flying so quickly, too quickly, if you ask me!  Anyhoo, I am starting to get in the mood for Valentine's Day and MOJO MONDAY 172 was just the inspiration that I needed.  I am not sure why it took me so long to complete it because it is so simple to do.  But you know how you get that feeling that something is missing?  Well, that is what kept me from finishing it a few days ago!  Maybe I really am the one that gave my daughter that perfectionist gene that drives me crazy sometimes!  Enjoy!

I received my new Verve stamps yesterday and could not wait to use them.  This is one of my favorite verses and I thought that it made for a Valentine card that is not your everyday.  It reminds me of the truest love of all.  I used Bazill's paper in Flurry, Stonehenge and Dark Red.  The DP is some I picked up at Michael's.

I embossed the heart after stamping it as well. The heart stamp is part of the Wedding stamp set from Hero Art.  I liked the way that it finally turned out!

Back to work (or shall I say play)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

I have been away for a couple of weeks because everyone knows how busy the Christmas holidays can be!  Well, add in a birthday celebration for my preteen before Christmas and a birthday celebration for my 2 year old after Christmas!  I am still recovering from all of the festivities.

But today I challenged myself to get creative and to take on some challenges on the web dealing with the creation of cards.  I took the Mojo Monday Challenge #171.  I am not sure why I had such a hard time with it but it did get me back in the mood for creating.  I combined this challenge with the Play Date Cafe Challenge #62.  Please keep in mind that this is very new to me.  I welcome all comments that are positive and will help guide me to a better creative self!

This card combines both challenges.  This is a new color combination for me and it took a little while to decide the best way to use them.  I hope you like it!

This is an attempt to try something different for Valentine's Day.  I wanted to use nontraditional colors and nonspecific wording.  I do like the eggplant and the kiwi color combo on this one!

INspiration

Earlier in the year, I was looking for some material to make my own wrap to use to carry my daughter.  I found this gorgeous fabric with pinks, chocolate brown and taupe!  Love at first sight!  Later it became the inspiration for this card.

This fabric just makes me feel all girly and yet sophisticated!  I am now thinking of making a little jumper for her out of this same fabric. Hmmm...now to find the time!
